Congratulations to Coach Julius and Players for a hard fought OSU Team Camp!

Waubonsie players pushed through three days of 95-100 degree temperatures at Ohio State this past weekend. With some last minute cancellations we arrived with only 13 players. The players who did attend sure got their money's worth with 9 games in three days and all the playing time one could ask for!

With a mix of Varsity, JV, Frosh Soph, and incoming freshman players, the Warriors held their own against some quality high school and travel teams. The Warriors won two games, took a few others to overtime, and ended the session with a killer Braveheart. Congrats to all for playing your hearts out in the heat and not giving up. The experience will pay off long term.

Thanks to Coach Julius, the board members, and participating parents for organizing the trip and getting everyone there and back safe and sound.

Recap From Coach Julius on OSU Team Camp!

There are many ways to describe success; of course there are the wins and losses. The Ohio State Team Tournament Camp had more losses than wins.   However, we had Andrew Gravel, Charlie Wiggins and Nathan Klimek who all took valiant turns at playing goalie. Nick Scarano added some key goals from the midfield and attack. Zach Lyons got a good taste of playing defense against an assortment of travel teams. Jake Ekdahl and Kyle Fortsch were pillars on defense who were able to guide and assist the guest defensemen. Jake was also able to recruit Billy Karabetsos from Main South. Billy did such a great job at middie we spent the car ride back trying to convince him to move. It was also great to watch Alex Hurst’s game improve while he was giving advice to his brother Max on the sideline. Max put this advice to good use throughout the tournament to improve also. They even played a duet on the piano while we waited in the dorm lobby for the bus to the field. That was a pleasant show of diversity among siblings.
This tournament also had some firsts for the Warrior banner. It was the first time Michael A. Julius Jr. played for the Warriors and he opened it up with a hat trick. He followed that up with some outstanding plays and more points that landed him as the youngest member on the OSU Team Camp All Star Team. He was joined by Conner Mersch, who absolutely took his game to the next level. During the All Star Game Conner had two goals that helped end the game in a tie. This was also the first time we ever had mutual All Star selections from our team.
Alex Valente suffered from the 110 plus heat the first day and this dropped the roster down to twelve.   Alex was able to battle back by Sunday and brought the team back to full strength.   That game we loss in a Brave Heart. But I must commend the ALL the guys for their tremendous effort. Keep in mind they all played at least NINE Games in three days, one all-star game in extreme heat. There were two wins, two losses in overtime and mutual losses by less than three goals. They say it’s the army you have, not the army you want and this army did a great job. Congratulations to the players and parents who are able to come and show support. Guys keep up the hard work and GO WARRIORS!
